Bronze Igbo Armband c1800s - Central Africa
A beautiful armband from the Igbo people in Africa.
I grabbed an interesting titbit from wiki which reads as follows:
Igbo art is known for various types of masquerade, masks and outfits symbolising people, animals, or abstract conceptions. Bronze castings found in the town of Igbo Ukwu from the 9th century constitute the earliest sculptures discovered in Igboland. Here, the grave of a well-established man of distinction and a ritual store, dating from the 9th century AD, contained both chased copper objects and elaborate castings of leaded bronze.
